Experience
I have been tutoring for 10 years in various settings. Over the years I have become acquainted with many different subjects and grade levels. I use humor to teach, I am laid back in my approach to teaching because many of the students that I work with are already "frustrated" and ready to give up, this allows them to feel more at ease and help them to feel comfortable with learning the material. Before deciding to pursue education, I was a social work major- so I have taken a lot of psychology and sociology classes, therefore, my philosophy on education(learning and teaching) is to approach the "Whole child" and asking questions, for example using the curriculum in the school of the child to help with current problems, and the fill in the skill gaps as we go. In addition, I have no problems with contacting teachers to help me with a child, as I am firm believer that everyone needs to be on the same page to help a child that is struggling. I can help students who are in a crisis situation- such as missing a lot of school, and getting them caught up. My long term goals are to go back for my master's focusing on speech pathology. In 2005, one of my students nominated me for "Whose Who Among American Teachers" as someone who made a difference in their life. It's an honor that a child I tutored thought of me.

Hobbies
Photography, Baking, Reading (when I get a chance! I am an active member in the PTO at my daughter's school, I am also a community member for Project Parkway, as well as a Parkway Graduate. I am outgoing, and I never meet a stranger, and I enjoy working with children. I know it's a cliche, but ever since I was little I always knew that I would work with children.
