Experience
While attending graduate school at Johns Hopkins University, I spent time as a teaching assistant for organic chemistry and general chemistry and working with the professors in the Chemistry Department. I assisted with both the lectures and labs. I ended up obtaining my PhD from the Johns Hopkins as well in organic/material chemistry. Since I spent time at the National Chung-Hsing University, I am also able to tutor a student in Mandarin Chinese through level 4, as well as teach students about Chinese language and culture. I also spent time tutoring junior high and high school students in a variety of subjects other than chemistry, which included algebra, geometry, science, and math. My focus when tutoring a student is to find out where their strengths lie and where they think their weaknesses are. I work with them to design a program in which we can improve their problem areas by really showcasing their strengths. I develop a plan in which the student does practice problems and then we have a question and answer discussion, going over their answers. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music and singing. I have always been interested in oil painting, but have not had the time for it lately. I plan to start that again soon too.
