Experience
I love math, and I think everybody can develop an appreciation for the subject. Some people say math is too abstract, but the fact is math is logical and is used everywhere. Sometimes the concepts of math are talked about in an abstract way, but there are always real world applications that can be explained to help students understand them better. I like my students to understand that when we study math, we are actually learning about a lot of different things, from music theory to traveling to baking to sports. The more that students embrace the reality of math being an integral part of their everyday life, the more likely they are to learn it and achieve success. My goal as a tutor is to get students motivated to learn math and to develop the learning skills they need so they can apply their math knowledge throughout their academic careers and lives. In my free time, I like to skateboard, hike, do yoga and meditation, and play basketball.
