Experience

I earned my B.S. from St. Louis University in Business Administration, with an emphasis in French and Economics. I spent time studying in France, where I earned the Diplome Approfondi de Langue Francais (DALF C2). During my time in undergrad, I worked as a French tutor, helping students master writing and speaking in French. Learning the written and oral mechanics of a language is, of course, essential to understanding a language. Just as essential, though, is learning about the culture and traditions behind a language. I love to pique student interest in culture as much as language in my classes. I do this by integrating films, food, and music into my lesson plans. I have experience teaching French at a variety of levels, including French I-IV and AP French Language and Culture. I also teach English language and writing, ESL/ELL, Mathematics, and Economics/Business. I grew up overseas, where my father directs a university English program. I've been lucky enough to travel widely, as well, so I've had a lot of exposure to many different languages and cultural traditions. I'm currently a fellow with the Colo Fellows Program in Public Affairs, a renowned, competitive, national program. My teaching philosophy centers around encouraging leadership skills in students, and creating an empowering educational experience. In my spare time, I love to travel, cook, hike, watch foreign and indie films, and read (especially British Literature). I'm in love with Forest Park! I also love finding new cafes for tutoring and studying sessions.
